| This game was tied at the end of 6 1-1. In the 7th Elk Grove scored 3 to take the lead. But, our AllStars battled back and scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 8th. Brandon Garza singled, followed by a single by Juan Avina. Then Tomi Eriksen singled to load the bases. John Claybaugh doubled in 2. Tyler Guthrie came to bat and doubled in the winning runs. | |||||

| The Simi Valley AllStars were down 3-0 as they batted
in the bottom of the 6th. Juan Avina lead off with a home run. Tomi Eriksen singled.
John Claybaugh singled. Tyler Guthrie singled up the middle to load the bases.
Sean Alvord hit a comebacker to the pitcher who threw home for a force. Then Greg
Wolff doubled in two to tie the game. In the 7th, Troy O'Connell doubled. Brandon Garza walked. Juan Avina came to the plate and promptly singled in the winning run, which was scored by Troy O'Connell after he jumped over the catcher and touched home safely. |

| The Simi Valley AllStars dug themselves a deep hole comitting several errors and spotting the Northern Utah team 10 runs. In the bottom of the 5th inning, Simi Valley staged its third comeback attempt. Juan Avina hit a homerun to get things started. The rest of the team helped Simi Valley get back 5 more runs to pull within 4 runs. A double-play with two on in the bottom of the 6th killed all hopes for our AllStars as they played their last game of the tournament. They finished in 4th place in the Region. | Juan Avina was named to the All Regional Team. He also earned the coveted MVP award for his 3 homeruns and excellent pitching efforts. He also brought home the Sportsmanship Award (Juan gave two of the three homerun balls to his host family). Condratulations Juan! | |||||
